About the Shelter

At out Shelter we take care of dogs and cats. The average amount of animals at the shelter is 450 dogs and 150 cats. All of them need care and attention, and all of them want to live in a happy and warm home.

The Shelter for Homeless Animals is open to visitrors from 10am to 2 pm, and from 3pm to 5pm, 7 days a week, including sundays and holidays. We take interventions and animals can be brought in 24 hours a day.

The Shelter was created in 1994. It was financed by the City of Cracow and The Animal Welfare Organization in Cracow (KTOZ). The main aim of the Shelter is to take care of homeless dogs and cats, to collect animals wondering without an owner, and take part in animal interventions. We Shelter takes care of animals found only within the boundries of Cracow.

The Shelter is mainained mainy from money from the City of Cracow, from the Animal Welfare Organization in Cracow, private sponsors, and public collection auctions.

About adoption

We do not take any obligatory fee for adopting animals from our Shelter or for reporting interventions. We are very grateful for any volountary donations while adopting animals.
In order to adopt an animal we require signing an adoption form and an ID or passport. The person adopting needs to be at least 18 years old. When adopting a „guard” type dog, we require a pre adoption control, that is made by inspectors of the Animal Welfare Organization.

Quaranteen

Quaranteen is a 14 day period for dogs and 7 days for cats form the day the animal comes to the Shelter. During that time we wait for the potential owner to come and collect the animal. During that time the animal can not be adopted by a third party.

Our quaranteen galery is updated every 48 hours, so if you are looking for an animal that you lost, call us as soon as possible and leave us information about the animal (breed, sex, age, colour, when and where it got lost).

Owners that are collectiong their animals from the Shelter are expected to pay a fee of 10zł per each day their animal spent in the Shelter. Owners need to show a veterinary book of health, and picture of their animal.

If you want to help us you can:

• wet cat food / food for kittens

• dog food (dry or wet)

• dog collars, leads, beds for dogs and cats, blankets, towels etc.
